Dave Florida (01/30/02) Bellsouth.net is rigging their modems so that dial-up customers get a measly 28.8 kb speed. That will drive many to buy their expensive DSL service. Check your connection speed!

Bennett Latimer Gainesville FL (01/30/02) Bellsouth customer service is proof that monopolies DO NOT WORK. Bellsouth does not care about their customers, their hold times should be illegal and their inter department communication is completely absent. In the past six months I have spent over 15 hours on hold with bellsouth trying to resolve a billing problem that they caused. I have had my service interupted twice temporarily and the last time permenantly. I don't owe them any money and they terminated me. I HATE BELLSOUTH!!!

Kelly Jones Snellville GA (01/30/02) Bellsouth Stinks!!!!!! I was so happy to find this website. I thought I was the only one out there. I always said If there was another phone company I would be with them in a heartbeat. Nothing could be worse than Bellsouth. When I moved to the atlanta area I needed a celluar phone company and joined with bellsouth mobility now cingular wireless because there is not a celluar one up here. Any way, I was suppose to have free long distance, no roaming, and free minutes to other bellsouth mobility customers. Did I get that? NO! My bills were outrageous. I was charged for everything inder the sun. All the hours I wasted away on the phone with customer service morons I could have painted the leaning tower of Pisa. When my boyfriend moved into the area we added an additional phone to my bill, it was suppose to be a shared minute plan. Was it? NO!!! We were being charged for diffrent phone lines on two seperate bills so it took two months to realize, "Hey these bills come pretty often." Well they finally took charges off after this time being on the phone with customer service morons I could have painted the universe. We were so irate about this that we just told them where they can stick the phones and our outrageous bills. Well 3 months after opening our service we terminated our contract and raised enough hell to not have to pay for breaking our contract, also we were expected to pay nothing else. (I think calling them everyday and asking to speak to someone higher up than that peon did it) So all is well now that we have Nextel (I am not saying I don't have problems with them but it is much better). Everynow and then even a year after we closed the account and thought all was settled, we still get a past due bill from them. You know what any telephone bill from any bellsouth affiliate is good for? Starting a cozy relaxing fire in the fireplace! :)

Victoria J. Turner Morgantown KY (12/20/01) We have been screwed by bell south from day one. We have double paid bills that they said we owed. They have even turned our phone off when we paid the bill - then they had to nerve to offer us a credit when the bill was overpaid in order to cover themselves for making a mistake. We have no idea what some of the charges are on our bill, and I think it is rediculous to have around $84.00 of just service fees and charges when your actual bill is around $20-25. No one can actually tell you what those charges are, and we are getting ripped off every day be a phone company that is TOO BIG FOR THEIR BRITCHES. I will be glad to get away from their services as quickly as I can.

Stephanie Memphis TN (12/17/01) I HATE THEM SO VERY MUCH!! Last year I ordered DSL service that never came. That didn't stop the idiots at Bellsouth for trying to charge me for two modems. That amazed me, two modemns when I never even recieved one! How do they stay in business? Now my phone is broken, it has been broken for a week. Repair service is nonexistant! They even tried to lie to me today and say they came to my apartment... but I was home and no one knocked. I wish I could use another provider... does anyone know of one?

Claudia Springer Jacksonville FL (12/04/01) For the third time I have tried using their automated "Right-touch" system - I spent 30 minutes going through the proceedure to eliminate services that I don't use in the "Complete choice" plan. When I "submitted" at the end of the thirty minutes, the computer said Iit couldn't process my request. Again this is the third time this has happened. Frustrated and determined to cut my costs I then went on line at WWW.Besllsouth.com and went through the whole proceedure again - Again, I was unable to access the system online - . Funny, though, when I clicked the option to ADD services rather than change or eliminate services, it would have processed me immediately. This is clearly a ploy to discourage busy people like myself and it has worked with me in the past but NO MORE. This is the REAL COMPLAIN: When I tok off work to rush home and speak with a REAL person in customer service I aSKED WHO i WOULD COMPLAIN TO ABOUT THEIR AUTOMATED "rIGHT-tOUCH SYSTEM" THAT NEVER WORKS AND WHEN THE cs AGENT TALKED TO A "SUPERVISOR" SHE SAID THERE WAS NO ONE... i AM sick OF BEING MANIPULATED LIKE THIS. tHIS COMPANY IS SAYING TO ME "OH WELL - WE DO WHAT WE WANT BECAUSE WE CAN...". iS THERE SOMETHING more i CAN DO ?

Danny Overstreet Athens GA (11/29/01) Got home from Thanksgiving trip to find my main telephone number out of order. Called immediately and was told it would be fixed in 4 days. After repeated calls to escalate, I've been promised service on the fifth day. All customer service personnel very rude and even gave me wrong info on how to "reset" the lines. Was also told disruption was due to a storm. Funny, but all the neighbors said we got a little rain, but no storm. Still waiting on the fifth day....

Kevin Warnick Anderson, SC (11/14/00) Disconnected without notice even after i had paid the bill! Now charging me $22 for "reconnection". Also charging me for the week i was disconnected without notice even as i was frantically trying to fix the problem. Where is the competition?

Claudia Miller Jacksonville FL (10/26/00) I have been a BellSouth customer for many years, but recently have noticed that the service reps make FREQUENT errors in my work orders that have inconvenienced me greatly! I am probably going to switch to another company by the first of the year because I'm very disappointed in BellSouth service.

Jody McCrea Cumming, GA (10/11/00) My phone service has gone out for the second time. The first time, BellSouth was 2 days late for their DEADLINE. Now, when I have 2 children at home and my husband is out of the COUNTRY, they keep moving the date later. I call and they treat me like a dog and when I email they LENGTHEN the repair time with no commitment. I emailed the FCC to ask if this is how a monopoly treats consumers and why can't we do anything about it.

Ralph Balch New Market, TN (09/04/00) I laughed the first time I read this page, that was before my own troubles started. A minimum five day wait to fix a phone line and a so what attitude. I checked on our Public service Commission and found they make extensive use of bellsouth services,i.e. voice mail and fax. There are no live bodies to talk to.

Stephen W Kendall Alpharetta, Georgia (09/01/00) Repair service is horrible. Can't ever get in touch with anybody, they protect themselves with useless voice mails. This wasts countless hours of my time. They don't respond to Priority email messages timely. Totally unsatisfactory.

William D. Hopper Coral Springs, Florida (08/10/00) We ordered celluar service through BellSouth, IT SUCKS!!!!!! No service half the time the other half drops calls. Can not even make a call from inside my house. Lucky if I can in the front yard. So I cancel the did not fulfill their end of the agreement, now they want me to pay them for the rest of the contract. Their DSL service isn't much better!!!!

A Thibodaux, LA (5/26/00) While I was married, my phone service was in my name. My husband and I divorced and I moved in with my parents, therefore I disconnected that line. I moved to another city shortly after and activated a new line, ran into financial problems and now they have disconnected my service. The have ALSO disconnected my ex husband's service because they insist the bill is community property even though the line was activated AFTER my divorce. Needless to say, I am now battling with the phone company over this bill AND my ex husband because I cannot pay it in full. BellSouth is unwilling to work with me to resolve this matter and even suggested that I hire a lawyer.

Devin TX (5/03/00) My girlfriend lives in Logansport, Louisiana and we barely get to talk online because she can never get connected. Besides phone it is the only way we stay in contact. I hate Bellsouth and I don't even use their services, I love Prodigy. But she says they have explained about technical difficulties but whatever. FIX IT!!!!

T. Thomas Macon, GA (2/17/00) For each last three consecutive bills, my payment has not been applied to the correct account. When trying to receive assistance, the operators are more willing to give you a hard time than try to even attempt to correct the problem. Many people in the middle Georgia area are complaining of Bellsouth and the shoddy way they conduct business. I have heard that they have always had a problem with customer service, that's why there are more local companies. The problem with them is that they overcharge the customer because they have to pay Bellsouth for the telephone numbers just as much as we are paying. Why can there not be another local telephone service in this area?! I can tell you one thing, THE MIDDLE GEORGIA AREA IS SICK AND TIRED OF BELLSOUTH AND I JUST HOPE THAT SOMEONE TAKES CARE OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT ESCALATES AND BELLSOUTH WILL BE TAKEN TO THE GOVERNMENT.

Sharon Wilson Nashville, TN (02/07/00) I am paying more than $50.00 per month for a dedicated phone line and Internet service and rarely exceed 26400bps. I am tired of wasting my life waiting for pages to load. DSL would be competitive but I am told I cannot get it altho my neighbor less than 250 ft from me is having it installed next week. Bellsouth's drones will not tell me why I can't get DSL or when it might be available. When I complained about the connection speed they laughed. Why should they connect me when they get just as much money for the lousy service they offer now? Cable in Nashville is not reliable. Without an alternative I am up the creek and paying thru the nose.

Terry Naples, FL (01/26/00) I ordered a prepaid cell phone from BellSouth by mail. I found it to be unsatisfactory and I have to pay shipping and handling to return it. I will also lose $30 for the prepay card even when the phone has never been activated. Customer service just wants to pass me around. Anyone know how to contact the CEO?

Roy Neuhauser Knoxville TN (01/23/00) Bellsouth has engaged in some very low-handed, trashy, business dealing. I recently received an offer from bell south to purchase a telephone in my phone bill, the phone to be billed on your monthly statement. We ordered one (what a mistake). A month passed by a we had not received the phone, we called the order number and we told, our shipping address and our billing address were not the same, therefor they had trashed the order! The problem was the delivery address was the same address we receive and have received phone service for 14 years! When I enquired as to why they had no contacted us I was told, "we do not have time to contact everyone that we have a problem order with, we have to cover a 6 state area!" I contacted the pres. of Bell south in Tennessee's office, I was assured "someone" would contact us about this matter that same day, needless to say they lied, no one contacted us, we are still waiting. I guess when you are dealing with a pack of liars you can't expect too much.

Kelly Chaney Warner Robins Please quit bullying OLM. Independent ISPs are often "formerly successful BBSes, who have invested many dollars" in local Telco business. Their dependency upon proper & reliable service from their providers results in continued & increased revenues for those same Telcos. Poor service will not and cannot be tolerated.
